The Microsoft Outlook outage that left thousands unable to use the email service is finally over.
It began as the work week started. Downdetector, which tracks outages and problems for online platforms,
showed a large spike
in reports of problems with Outlook starting around 8 a.m. PT on Monday, peaking at more than 6,000 reports at 8:17 a.m. By Tuesday morning, Downdetector showed fewer than 550 reports at 6 a.m. PT on Tuesday, but some people still faced problems.
Late Thursday, a Microsoft representative told CNET that “the issue has been resolved across all impacted services.” The company did not explain the cause of the problem.

If you regularly use Microsoft Outlook, you already know that this week has offered some real headaches. Problems began Monday due to problems with Microsoft Exchange Online, which Outlook uses for mailbox access and email delivery.
But the problems lingered for some users even as the week progressed. On Thursday, a Microsoft representative told CNET in an email that things were back to normal.
“This issue has been resolved across all impacted services,” the representative said. “More information is available on the

As of Friday morning, Downdetector was still showing hundreds of people still reporting issues with Outlook, but that was way down from the thousands reported earlier in the week.
