If you use Microsoft 365 and want to know what’s coming next, what would you search for on Google/Bing? Microsoft 365 Roadmap, right? Wrong. Microsoft now wants you to search for “AI at Work Roadmap,” as it “centralizes AI innovations” across products like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook.
I use Microsoft 365 products all the time as part of my job, and I also often visit the Microsoft 365 Roadmap to prepare myself for forthcoming changes, but when I opened the website today (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap), I noticed that it looked a bit different.
All references to Microsoft 365 Roadmap were replaced with “AI at Work Roadmap,” including the title of the website and headers or subheaders. Heck, even the Microsoft 365 Roadmap webinars were rebranded as AI at Work Roadmap, and I honestly thought it had to be a bug because it absolutely does not make sense.
The Microsoft 365 Roadmap name makes it clear what we’re looking for, which is updates for all products in the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. But when you read something like “AI at Work,” you feel disconnected, and it’s also silly by Microsoft’s own definition.
According to the company, Microsoft 365 offers AI features only when you pay for the AI license, as you do have a “basic” subscription without AI innovations.
Turns out it’s not a bug at all, and it’s an intentional change that was quietly announced earlier today.
Microsoft confirms Microsoft 365 Roadmap is now “AI at Work”
In a post on the Microsoft 365 Admin portal (I am glad it’s not renamed yet), the company notes that “Microsoft 365 Roadmap is becoming the AI at Work Roadmap,” as it “centralizes AI-powered innovation tracking without changing access or workflows.”
Microsoft argues it was
