Google is expanding its Gemini Enterprise artificial intelligence platform into the legal sector, introducing specialized tools designed to help law firms automate legal and administrative work while maintaining controls around confidential client information.
Alphabet’s Google said Tuesday it was launching Gemini Enterprise for Legal, a purpose-built platform that combines AI agents, legal software integrations and data connections to help lawyers handle both routine and complex tasks. The move intensifies competition among technology companies seeking to capture growing demand for AI in professional services.

The platform is designed to perform tasks such as contract review, regulatory monitoring, legal research and document preparation. Google
the AI agents can carry out specialized functions with limited human oversight, potentially allowing lawyers to spend more time on higher-value legal work.
A major focus of the offering is integration. Google said Gemini Enterprise for Legal can connect with legal technology platforms and data systems used by firms, including products from Thomson Reuters, Harvey and LexisNexis. The company is also working with platforms such as iManage, NetDocuments, DocuSign, Everlaw and RelativityOne.
Google said security and confidentiality were central to the platform because law firms routinely handle privileged information, sensitive client records and firm-specific legal strategies. Its system is designed to operate within existing permissions and access controls rather than requiring firms to create separate security structures for AI.
The company said client data, firm-specific playbooks, intellectual property, custom agents and model outputs remain private and are not used to train or fine-tune Google’s foundation models. Several major law firms are
