An AI business named and branded by a Belfast-based creative studio has been

acquired

this week as part of a $4 billion (£3bn) investment.

Edinburgh-based Tomoro AI, which specialises in building and scaling

artificial intelligence (AI)

solutions for businesses such as Virgin Atlantic and DPD, is the latest major acquisition by the US tech group behind ChatGPT.

Founded just three years ago, Tomoro AI’s name and brand was developed by Pale Blue Dot in Belfast.

Set up in 2013 by Jaime Steele and Andrea Mills, the design firm currently employs 18 people from its offices in The Printworks on Belfast’s Queen Street.

The studio, which works across brand identity, web and ecommerce and film, has already worked with the likes of Gareth Southgate, Rio Ferdinand, Emirates Airline and Guy Ritchie’s Cashmere Caveman Co.

But it’s Pale Blue Dot’s involvement with Edinburgh consultancy Tomoro AI that’s under the spotlight this week, following the latest big move by Sam Altan’s tech giant.

The Belfast firm said it has worked with the Tomoro founding team from day one, leading on naming, brand identity, positioning, messaging, video production and website.
